This change process still continues. This webinar will primarily draw on my PhD dissertation submitted some years ago and on practise wisdom I have gained during over seven years in mental health direct Social Work practise in Central Victoria. This seminar outlines the development of a Statewide service supporting women living and dying of secondary breast cancer in Queensland. Over a period of 15 years the service has grown in response to identified needs, to become a unique and innovative service offering a range of services that support women, partners and families from diagnosis through to death.
The presentation will focus on the rationale, process and effectiveness of the intervention. Given the recent decision of the State Government to cut funding to this community based organisation, the seminar will also report on challenges of developing a new funding and operational model. In this talk Peter Munn examines the organisational framework and culture necessary to support advanced social work practice and helps to provide a beginning framework that will help it happen.

Working within collaborative partnerships is fundamental to providing responsive social work practice for service users across a range of sectors. Yet working collaboratively can be extremely challenging. This course will support social workers operating in private practice and organisational settings to develop and sustain their skills in cross-discipline partnerships and collaborative approaches.
BE THE FIRST TO KNOW
This four hour online workshop covers in depth the process of setting up and running a private social work practice so that you can be successful in all the ways that you might define this. It is a very practical course. This CPD activity will describe the goals of school social work as a particular mode of practice; demonstrate the potential but also address some of the shared frustrations of collaboration.
This first course in a series is aimed to address the natural concerns that social workers may have when they find themselves needing to engage with children and adolescents. The course addresses these concerns by identifying them, exploring why it is important to engage with children, provides an understanding of children's development and builds skills and strategies for talking effectively with children. This is an introductory course to working with family violence and violence against women this topic is also known as domestic violence.
The training is designed to help professionals work through challenging ethical dilemmas regarding squalor and hoarding. This area is still poorly understood within the Australian context, and can cause particularly troubling ethical dilemmas. This presentation is applicable to the practice knowledge of the full range of Social Work professionals who work in community, private practice and agency settings. This course covers what a social worker needs to know to get the most out of a child protection case planning meeting or a conference. The course covers how to setup a case planning meeting, who should attend, interagency issues, differing perspectives and parental attendance.
For those who struggle to manage their emotional worlds, or to alter old familiar ways of thinking and behaving, there is often an underlying trauma impact to explore.
This course provides deep understanding of the issues and strategies for working with such clients. Sarah McGregor, an expert social worker in the field, presents an informative session on how to respond when a client discloses that they have been sexually assaulted. This unique, online course focuses on essential knowledge and skills required for new or inexperienced supervisors working in the human services profession.

Dr Jackie Huggins provides a brief history of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation, explains her own personal journey and involvement with this Council and the National Congress of Australia's First Peoples. Jackie describes what has been achieved thus far in the journey of reconciliation and considerations moving forward. Annaley and Kate speak and provide relevant examples of their experiences about how the Sanctuary Model assisted their organisation. The workshop was presented by Joanne Petrovic on the topic "Creating collectively consenting communities".
Joanne speaks about how to best engage communities, how to create socially just communities and how to lead by consent. Current President, Professor Karen Healy continues this tradition speaking on the issue of national registration for the social work profession, and considerations moving forward as a self-regulating profession. Reverend Long is an engaging speaker, he discusses the lessons he has learnt around leadership.

The workshop was presented by May Doncon on the topic "Strengthening teams in times of change" May speaks of her experience in managing staff through a time of great uncertainty, the change between Medicare Local to Primary Health Network. May explores what uncertainty can often do to staff performance and morale and how to build on this and offers suggestions as to how to promote positivity and increase performance again.
The workshop was presented by Heidi Crawford on the topic "How to make boring things interesting: thinking outside the box when creating learning experiences".
The face to face workshop was interactive and Heidi asked participants to learn by doing several activities. The recording has been amended to explain what the activities are and how to implement them in a class setting. The workshop was presented by Elizabeth McEntyre and Professor Eileen Baldry on the topic "But-ton Kidn Doon-ga: Black Women Know - Re-presenting the lived experiences of Australian Indigenous women with mental health and wellbeing issues and or cognitive disabilities in criminal justice systems".
Elizabeth and Eileen speak about their research into Australian Indigenous women in the criminal justice system, sharing stories and making comment on how this research and future research in this are needs to be transformational. The workshop was presented by Bobbi Henao Urrego on "Leadership theory and social work: how to use your skills for workplace and service development".
The workshop was presented by Carolyn Cousins on "Unconvering your personal practice model and assisting others to discover theirs". The workshop was presented by Rosemary Qummouh and Sera Harris on "The journey from the talk to the walk: the teaching of self care and emerging social worker experiences". This two hour online training continues the discussion about creating and managing a successful private practice. This training is complimentary to Part 1. Jim speaks for just over 30 minutes about how the recent changes to political agendas will impact social work moving forward.

Not only can research be used for evaluation or assessing resources, it can inform the creation of new programs, practice frameworks and policies. In this series, Dr Janina Fisher helps us resolve our trauma and work through our trauma related disorders and emotions. The Clinical Supervision course is online and provides a flexible approach to learning. This course provides a structured experience and will form the basis of the core skills needed as a supervisor. It consists of seven self paced modules and will include presentations, video demonstrations to convey concepts and demonstrate skills , reflective tasks, readings and relevant resources including templates to be used in clinical practice.
A series of assessment tasks and quizzes are also included. These quizzes are not graded but aim to motivate participants and inform the students how learning is progressing but allows students to obtain feedback and address any gaps in their knowledge and skills. Genograms provide an invaluable opportunity to map out the family history, patterns of behaviour, beliefs and values and can be used as a tool for engagement, assessment and treatment. This E-Learning course will provide participants with a solid understanding of how to use genograms therapeutically helping the client and their family tell their story and clarify patterns, rituals beliefs and values that shape family functioning.
The course is suitable for health and welfare professionals who currently or intend to work with families. It is anticipated that the module will take hours. This e-Learning module aims to provide participants with the knowledge required to conduct an initial family therapy interview, a thorough understanding of how to develop a systemic case formulation and when to work with individuals versus whole families. It considers child, adolescent and adult mental health practice. This module consists of 5 self paced sections and includes video demonstration, practical examples, reflective tasks, readings and a short quiz.
It is anticipated that the module will take Hours. The aim of the first part of this module is to introduce participants to the basic ideas and practices of structural family therapy such as hierarchies and enmeshment and introduce techniques for working with families in a structural model. The second part of the module is on SFBT where the focus of therapy moves from the problems to describing exceptions and strengths and what clients are achieving in their lives to bring about change. Key ideas and principles are explored including interventions such as questioning techniques; the miracle question and scaling question.
The module consists of 5 self-paced sections and includes video demonstration, practical examples, reflective tasks, readings and a short quiz. This e-Learning module describes the Milan approach to systemic family therapy including key ideas and practices like hypothesising, circularity and neutrality and introduces systemic family interviewing skills and circular questioning. This e-Learning module provides participants with a solid understanding of both Bowen Family System and Narrative Therapy.
